Get your mittens and team jerseys and get ready for the Transfer Day Tailgate Party, being sponsored by the Academic Advising and Transfer Center.

Wednesday from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the College Center.

Transfer Day is an opportunity for students to meet with admissions representatives from different colleges and universities, said Pam Kuretich, an administrative assistant in the Career Center who has coordinated Transfer Day events with Sarah Boone, and academic adviser and transfer coordinator.

“Our goal is to give students the opportunity to get basic transfer information without leaving campus. They can get information about financial aid, housing and admissions from lots of different schools all in one place,” Boone said.

Kuretich and Boone decided to have a theme for Transfer Day and decided on a tailgate party.

Boone said, “Pam and I have been doing this for a number of years and we hope to do something to spice it up and draw more students in.”

As a prelude to Transfer Day, five former MHCC students were in the Town and Gown Room Tuesday to answer questions about their transfer experience.

The panel consisted of students who all attend local universities and colleges. In the case of “if I knew then what I know now,” most of the panelists agreed the classes most important to take before transfering are math and foreign language.

The panelistst also suggested students get involved in activities on campus to meet fellow students and the school’s instructors.
