'Hitch' swings and connects

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and with it comes a flood of romantic movies. Your best bet this year is “Hitch,” starring Will Smith and Kevin James. Women, as well as men, will walk away from this date movie feeling satisfied with it’s genuine laughs.

Dr. Alex Hitchens (Smith) is a psychiatrist by day and a cupid-for-hire by night. His clients are desperate men who need help getting into relationships with the women they secretly love. Hitchens must execute elaborate schemes to get his clients women and that’s what makes this movie enjoyable to watch.

He comes to find out that there are some really tough cases out there. Probably, Hitchens’ most hopeless client is Albert Benneman (James).

Albert is a decent guy who’s a bit on the heavy side and can’t eat a meal without spilling all over himself. Smith’s job is to maneuver him into the good graces of Allegra Cole (Amber Valletta), a wealthy New York heiress. It’s a one-in-a-million shot; can “Hitch” pull it off?

Whether or not Hitchens pulls off the case, one thing is certain: This movie pulled it off.
