All bets are on ‘Ray’

To make such a momentous film, music lovers had to lose a legend to see him as a truly iconic figure. In “Ray,” we find out more about the man behind the glasses.

“Ray” is about Ray Charles (Jamie Foxx), the music legend who was blind by the age of seven. We watch as he deals with his drug problem and infidelity with his long-time wife Della Bea (Kerry Washington). Refusing to use his disability as an excuse, Ray revolutionized music through his trips and falls.

Far from his beginnings on his TV show “In Living Color,” Foxx has proven he is more than a low-rated comedian. Playing Ray not only tested Foxx physically, mimicking movements and gestures that Charles did, but emotionally when his friend died months before the movie’s completion. Foxx’s performance is beyond amazing and truly shows the growth he has endured in the months of filming this movie.

Charles’ music swept the Grammy Awards with eight honors; fans can sit back and watch as “Ray” wins every award he deserves.
