‘Be Cool’ fails to sizzle despite cast

John Travolta and Uma Thurman team up once again in "Be Cool." Not since "Pulp Fiction" have these two reignited their on-screen chemistry and dusted off their dancing shoes. Yet, not even this great duo could save this movie.

Chili Palmer (Travolta) is tired with the humdrum pace of the movie business. After finding R&B singer Linda Moon (Christina Milian), he takes her under his wing and introduces her to record producer Edie (Thurman). Things get complicated when Moon reveals her contract with Raiji (Vince Vaughn) and bodyguard (The Rock). With small ties to the Russian mafia, a gang leader/rival producer to Edie; Sin LaSalle (Cedric the Entertainer), and the evil music mogul Nick Carr (Harvey Keitel); the plot becomes knotted and confusing as each character brings their own storyline.

Though filled with a great cast and taking characters from 1995's "Get Shorty," this movie was a dud when Milian sang her first note. Though it has a few chuckling moments provided by The Rock and Cedric the Entertainer, nothing can hide the dull moments that seem to drag on.

The height of the movie is Thurman and Travolta's provocative dance. Though awkwardly placed in the movie, it is refreshing to see Travolta do what he does best.

The trailer for this movie seems inviting but for some, this movie looks more like a rental than a Friday night matinee.
