Softball plans on excellent year

The opening weekend for the softball team will be in California against Goldwest College on March 11-13.

“Hopefully this weekend we will get a feel for how we do,” said Meadow McWhorter, head softball coach. “We will go down [to California] and hopefully come back with some Ws.”

After the California games and Spring Break, the team goes straight into league games beginning March 29 at home against Lower Columbia.

“I’m not worried about anyone in the league, although Lower Columbia, the six-time defending champions, will be a test,” said McWhorter.

Full of experience, from a 34-8 season last year, the softball team looks toward a promising season.

“We depend on our sophomores for leadership; they know what to expect,” said McWhorter. “With seven of [last season’s] nine starters returning, it should be an excellent season.”
