Students are asked to contribute to mural

For now, the 10 ft x 40 ft wall across from the Jazz Café will remain blank but students who have yet to send in their proposal for the Student Mural Project may have another chance.

MHCC wants to show diversity and recognize uniqueness amongst students with stucco and acrylic-based paints.

The committee for this project, including ASG President Bud Khuth, faculty adviser Lori Lorian and Chief Operating Officer Gary Murph, may soon decide on extending the deadline for this project. Only one student has sent in a proposal within the past month. Since the deadline is today, faculty involved is weighing in their options.

“We will continue to accept proposals a week after deadline,” said Wendy Schissel, dean of humanities. “We were ruling the possibility that a group of people will do it, dividing the talent grant for each student.”

Qualifications for students are good academic standing and enrollment from winter term into spring term. The grant for this project is $756 (12 units of tuition) and the project is planned to last for the remainder of spring quarter.
