New Student Services area enters second term of use

As a siege of students assault the new Student Services area, many wonder how MHCC's renovated nerve center is handling its second full quarter of operation.

Students waiting in the various lines within Student Services had opinions, some debating within themselves, as to how the changes have affected the school and its students.

“It seems a lot better now, less squished,” said James Kuykendah, a student waiting in the Financial Aid Office line. He added that he would most likely still be in line when his next class started.

Others seemed very supportive of the changes. Shaun Anderson, a student waiting in the financial aid line, said the office’s old set-up was “a nuisance to my brain.”

Dave McCoy, a student standing at the end of an admissions line that reached to the office doors, said the new set-up was very efficient, now that everything was housed in one area. McCoy said he’d planned on only spending about 10 minutes taking care of his business in Student Services but with so many others in line he guessed that his wait would be closer to an hour.

Other students had less positive feelings about the waits. Ryan Fleck, a student in the radio program, felt the offices worked better before the renovation. Fleck said there seemed to be more people available to help students in the past so lines moved faster and rarely extended out of the Student Services doors.
