Preview Night next month
High school students and their families are invited to attend College Preview Night 2006.
The event will be held in the Vista Dining Center Feb. 8 and May 10, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
This event is an opportunity for prospective students to visit the Mt. Hood Community College campus and speak with program and department promoters about MHCC offerings while also viewing student work and upcoming events.
Refreshments will be provided.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to contact Nicky Taylor, MHCC recruitment coordinator, regarding space availability and reservations.

Celebrating Black History
The Geography and Criminal Justice departments at MHCC will be showing several films throughout the month of February to celebrate Black History Month.
Schedules films include “Amistad” on Feb. 1, “10,000 Black Men Named George” on Feb. 8, “Separate But Equal” on Feb. 15, and “Mississippi Burning” on Feb. 22. Each film begins at 7 p.m. in Room AC2607.
In addition to the Wednesday night showings, there will be films shown on Tuesdays from noon to 1 p.m. in Room AC1608 that showcase stories of prominent African Americans.

Night Student Reception
The Night Student Reception, sponsored by the Student Activities Board, is scheduled for Feb. 1 and 2 in the College Center at MHCC. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and run until 8:30 p.m.
The social event is meant to welcome MHCC’s night students, and refreshments will be provided.

Annual summit next week
The MHCC Foundation Business Relations Committee will be having its third annual business summit, titled “Cultivating Knowledge: Investing in our Community by Strengthening Public and Private Partnerships,” Friday, Jan. 27.
According to Mike Porter, MHCC Foundation vice president and Business Relations Committeechair, the summit will “focus on how creative and dynamic partnerships between public and private enterprises will benefit everyone in East Metro.”
Registration for the event will begin at 8:30 a.m., Jan. 27, in the Visual Arts Theater. The registration fee is $25. The program will begin at 9 a.m. and will end at 2 p.m. Lunch is included in the registration fee.
