Campus gameroom set for revamping

By Caitlin Curtis

After four years of waiting, renovations are finally being made inside The Keg, more commonly known as the game room, which is located just below the College Center.
This room is a popular spot for students who are in between classes or just need a place to hang out.

The student government, along with adviser Kris Knutson, has been preparing for this project for years and is ready to get started.
Thanks to a donation from Roller Ink, there are plans to paint the pillars and at least one of the walls, add decorations, and bring in more furniture.

Time was spent over the summer picking out new rugs and couches to add to the new look. Painting will be similar to the recent colors in the 1500 hall, mostly cream colored with some blue and maroon accents.

A collection of framed pictures are set to be hung on walls. The pictures are representative of pop culture, ranging from a group shot of The Beatles, to the famous portrait of Kramer from Seinfeld, to a memorial of 9/11. While there is yet to be a date set for when the painting will begin, hopes are high that the change will have a positive effect on students.

“We want students to stay on campus more,” says Stephen Emery, Associated Student Government president, adding that the current room seems bare and uninviting.
The new look is intended to bring in more students to play a game of pool, watch television, drop quarters at the arcade wall, or just sit back and relax. There is no annual budget set aside for The Keg remodeling, just some extra money and approval that some feel is overdue.
