Reception to welcome MHCC night students
Every term, night students are given something daytime students take for granted: access to the College Center. “We’re opening the doors of the College Center, which are usually closed during the night time, so they have a place to come and see they’re welcome here at MHCC.” Night students have been coming to the night student receptions for years. “We do this every term, for as long as I’ve been here,” said Van Pelt. “This year we started bringing performers in. This term we’re having a musician come in named Robert West. He’s an acoustic guitar player and singer. Students get to come here at night, hang out, listen to some music and eat some food.” Van Pelt is proud of his contribution to the project. “It was my idea to bring the performers here, and it was with the students in mind,” he said. Chartwells will provide food. “It shouldn’t be too expensive to get a hot dog or hamburger,” Van Pelt said. The Saints’ mascot, Barney, will also be making an appearance.
