New deadline for future ASG president The deadline to apply for ASG President has been pushed back to April 21. Today last day to drop classes The last day to drop an 11 week spring term class with a refund is today. It is also the last day to add an 11 week spring term class. Foundation auction draws record numbers This year’s Foundation Auction drew record numbers of participants, and according to MHCC President Robert Silverman, may be record breaking in the amount of funds raised. Students shared personal stories about the impact MHCC has had on their lives in a part of the auction called the special appeal. Pledges from this appeal were dedicated entirely to student scholarships, and raised $47,500 in about ten minutes. MHCC plans earthquake drill Tuesday An earthquake drill will be held Tuesday at 10:40 a.m. The drill will be announced over the voice communication system. Participants should duck, cover and hold, but not go outside or stand in a doorway unless directed. Lao New Year celebration planned A Lao New Year celebration will be held Saturday at the Lao Buddhist Temple at 4350 NE 133rd Ave. in Portland from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. This free event will include arts and crafts, vendor booths selling items from southeast Asia and ceremonies of ancient tradition. Following the festival there will be a dinner, entertainment and a keynote speaker held at Legin Restaurant, 8001 SE Division St. in Portland from 7 p.m. to midnight. Library survey wants student opinions The MHCC library is interested in student opinions about library hours. Current hours are Monday to Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The library is conducting a survey and student opinions are welcomed. Leadership conference for Russian youth MHCC will host the 10th annual Russian Speaking Youth Leadership Conference today from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Approximately 350 high school students are expected to attend. MHCC invites students with disabilities The second annual Transition to College Conference for Students with Disabilites will take place Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Town and Gown Room and the Jazz Cafe.
