Softball sweeps Clark
On Tuesday, April 11, the women swept a doubleheader against Clark, 8-1 in the first game and 8-0 in the second. Sophomore Jennifer Phillips got the win in the first and sophomore Samantha Stockfleth got the shut-out win in the second game. This was a great change from their last doubleheader, when they were swept by Clackamas 5-4 and 10-7, on April 7. The Saints softball team has already had many ups and downs in their season this year. With a 2-4 league record (and a 4-7 record overall), placing them in fourth in the Southern Region behind Lower Columbia, Clackamas and Chemeketa, the women are gearing up to face some of their toughest competition. The Saints will play all three regional rivals within the next month, including a Saturday, April 22, game with the unbeaten Lower Columbian Red Devils, a Tuesday, April 25, game at Clackamas, and a Tuesday, May 2, game with the Chemeketa Storm. Although the women face many of the toughest competitors in the NWAACC soon, the rest of their competition is pretty well spread out, with games against Southwestern Oregon and Clark approaching. SWOCC and Clark are, thus far, two of the weakest teams in the Southern Region with records of 2-6 and 1-7. This weekend, the women will play two games at a crossover in Wenatchee, Wash. The start time is yet to be announced. On the April 18, they will play Chemeketa in a game that was rescheduled from April 8, due to rain.
