Be sure to bring your urban legends |

There is something coming to the Mt. Hood campus next week. It is so ghoulish, so very fiendish that its creators would not dare speak its name. It is scarier than parking lot “A”, but not as chilling as buying tacos from Robert Silverman to balance the general budget. It is the “Urban Legends II: The Campfire.” The Writers’ Club at MHCC has thrown the switch and brought back to life this Halloween event. Members of the club will host a lunchtime reading of urban legends and scary stories, Tuesday, Oct. 25 in Room AC 1582. They will be reading original and published literary works. Students are encouraged to share their own stories or read some of their favorites. “This is not a performance. We want to create an intimate campfire style gathering,” Chad Bartlett, an English instructor sponsoring the club, said. The campfire theme is a change from last year’s urban myth reading, which was more like a performance where club members read to an audience. The event is also an opportunity for students interested in writing to meet other Mt. Hood students with similar interests. The event is free and food and drinks will be provided. |
