Shields, Neilsen-Hood to vacate board seats |
Two Mt. Hood MHCCD board members will not seek another term in the May 17 election. Frank Shields (Zone 4) and Carol Neilson-Hood (Zone 1) are stepping down at the end of their term June 30. Board chair Brian Freeman (Zone 2) is seeking reelction. Filing for those positions will end March 17. Dave Shields of Gresham is running for Zone 1 and Rod Monroe of Portland is running for Zone 4. As of Thursday, all cnadidates were unopposed according to the Mulnomah County Elections Office. Frank Shields said at Wednesday’s board meeting that he has chosen not to run again due to his commitments to the Oregon Senate. Neilson-Hood said that she has chosen not to run because she is “making some changes in her business life,” which will take up more of her time. She said, “It’s not because of the college, because I love everything I have learned.” |
