Its that time again: last day to drop classes

Today, Feb. 23, is the last day MHCC students can withdraw from a single class for winter quarter. After today, MHCC students will be stuck with classes kicking their teeth in. The only option after today is either give a difficult class your all or drop all your classes before March 17.

How it works is simple: When you start the term, you have two weeks to drop a class and still get your money back. Week seven is the last week to drop a class in general. If you do not drop the classes you don’t like, no matter your reason, you are not only stuck with the bill, but possibly a bad grade.

Most people go to college so they can get a good job afterwards. You will get to that point by doing well in classes. With that in mind, there is no reason to stay in a class you are struggling with, despise, or simply don’t care about for whatever reason. If it is a struggle to even walk in the door of your psychology class, drop it. Why hesitate? This is not giving up; take it another time with a different teacher. Maybe you find it doesn’t interest you like you thought it would.

College doesn’t have to be an unpleasant experience. Today is the last chance to save your quarter, and if you have doubts about your ability in any of your classes, don’t feel like a quitter for considering this option.

You can sit on your hands if you choose, but before you do try weighing your interest in the class, and your ability to do well in it. If you find that it doesn’t interest you, and it will be a struggle to get by, you may enjoy a visit to Guantanamo Bay’s torture resort.
