Staff Editorial: Free class helps students grasp college life Welcome to Mt. Hood Community College. For some, this is the second or third year roaming the walkways of the college. For others, this is the first year in a college. The Advocate’s first piece of advice is to not further complicate your educational plan by panicing. Though MHCC may be a community college, instead of a four-year university, you will get the full college experience. Because of this, however, you may find MHCC to have a laid back environment that many schools lack. As you begin the college journey to wherever your destination is, there have been several ways to help those who have no idea where they are going. Classes like yoga, hiking and the relaxing yet thought provoking study of astronomy can be some places you can let your mind go astray and not worry. One class offered for first year students is HD100. This class is an easy way to slide into the college environment without feeling overwhelmed or uneasy. The class teaches you several ways of organizing your life and making sure you graduate with your sanity still attached. Though the class is free, students are still required to purchase a $20 textbook from the bookstore. But, compared to other more expensive alternatives, the money seems like nothing compared to what you’ll gain from the class. Whether you’re looking for a class to help you organize your ever-increasing workload or fi nd some bit of sanity in the crazy world we live in, HD100 is the class for you.
