The Business of Biofuels in the Pacific Northwest comes to MHCC

Mt. Hood Community College will host “The Business of Biofuels in the Pacific Northwest”, presented by the Oregon Science and Technology Partnership (OSTP) on On October 6th from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. They will talk about subjects in the production of biodiesel and bioethanol.
The conference will be discussing topics such as the critical elements needed to create a successful biofuel manufacturing company, future biofuel projects in the Pacific Northwest, and which products and raw materials are needed to produce biofuels in our area.
Attendees will also have the chance to hear from existing biofuel companies, explore the areas of technology, learn the production of the raw materials, the production of biofuels, its distribution as well as the present and future of this nature-affable energy source.

Two MHCC instructors certified in Oracle data base technology

MHCC is now home to two certified Oracle Certification instructors. Electronic instructor Jack Fassel and Computer Education instructor Wayne Machua completed 120 hours of training for the certification.
Oracle is the creator of programs used widely by high school and community colleges to prepare students for the job market. The database technology will teach students to take on technical positions that are on the rise, according to Machua. He predicts the number of people will be outnumbered by the number of opening level technician jobs within the next 10 years.
MHCC will also collaborate with David Douglas High School in an effort to involve more students in the Oracle program. Because of this certification, the school can now offer beginning and advanced database courses following Oracle certification requirements.
