Election Results are in - some students hated both candidates

For weeks posters and ads have bombarded our lives with their persistent message of “Vote for me!” And unless you just beamed down from outer space, those messages have been embedded in your head and opinions have been formed.

Opinions and reactions vary among the body politic at MHCC. For example, in reference to the presidential results, student John Harrison said “Personally I don’t think it matters who became president because they are so similar it is going to be the same anyway. And Republicans still rule the House and Senate, so their views are going to be overruled.”

When student Janine Johnston was asked the same question, she said, “I’m completely against both candidates. I think we are going to have a hard time getting through the next four years with a president that is willing to take us to war without exhausting all the other possibilities.”

Two students, who wished not to give their names, said, “Though we know who is now the president, what are we going to do about the nation? How will we repair the splits? How will Bush handle this?” And on a lighter side, “There ought to be a law that you have 24 hours to pull down all the political signs. They are so annoying!”
