ASG elections arrive: VOTE

By Rachel Kramer

The elections for the MHCC Associated Student Government president and vice president will begin Monday and run until Friday, May 26.

The elections will coincide with the Rites of Spring celebration.

New this year, voting will occur primarily online through the MHCC website and MyMHCC, using a student ID number and password.

There will a computer set up during Rites of Spring to use to vote.

The candidates are Jay Sabin or Stephen Floyd for president and Sean Robinson, Brandon Van Bibber or Cody Bakken for vice president.

Sabin and Robinson are running on a ticket, as are Floyd and Van Bibber. Bakken is running on his own.

According to Cynthia Mershon, elections chair, in the event Bakken, who is running on his own for vice president, gets 50 percent of the vote plus one vote, he will win the position of vice president.

A special election would then be held May 30-31 for the office of ASG president.
According to Dick Magruder, special events and center coordinator, this special election would be open to the entire student body, with no signatures required. Those interested would just have to file.

Last year, 200 students voted.

Absentee ballots are due today.
