MHCC - MOVIES - NEWS - TECH - MUSIC MOVIES- Pirates breaks records “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” didn’t exactly receive the greatest reviews in the world when it came out. A.O. Scott of The New York Times wrote, “Although there are memorable bits and pieces, the new ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ is a movie with no particular interest in coherence, economy, or feeling.” Even with its collection of negative reviews, audiences still gathered in droves to see what trouble Captain Jack Sparrow would get himself into next. “Dead Man’s Chest” earned a whopping $423 million in the U.S. box office, making it number six of the all-time top grossing films in the United States. The first “Pirates” film is at number seven. The next installment in the Pirates series, “At World’s End,” is slated for a May 25, 2007, release. MOVIES- ‘Borat’ offends Uproariously funny in the most disgusting of ways, “Borat” pushes the boundaries of the R rating. The Kazakh journalist (played by comedian Sacha Baron Cohen) came out of nowhere to “charm” viewers with his sexist rants, trouble with Jews (Cohen is Jewish himself), and downright, peculiar behavior. Two of the fraternity brothers pictured in the film are suing 20th Century Fox, claiming they were told the film wouldn’t be screened in America, and that the crew deliberately got them drunk before shooting their scenes. “Borat” gets a “high-five.”
