Technical problem creates issue with heating
Some hot, some cold

A variety of complaints have been filed regarding the new college heating system as the facilities management team works to adjust the 800 control units scattered across campus.
Some areas are too cold, such as the Humanities Department, while others are too hot, such as Integrated Media and the computer lab in Room 1451. The heating is working well in the Child Development Center and the Fisheries Department, said Jim Bowness, maintenance engineer.
Each control unit in the ceilings across the college must be individually calibrated. The thermostats will not work properly until the calibrations are completed, said Bowness. There is no date to be finished, he said.
Garie Zordich, administrative assistant in Humanities, said, “The heating problem is the outcome of progress. They are trying to make our building warmer, safer, and environmentally correct and so these things take time.
That’s why they are behind in getting the heat all turned on.
“Sometimes I feel cold and sometimes I feel hot, but I know that they are working hard on the problem,” said Zordich.
Paul Eckhardt, Spanish teacher, said, “When it is hot, I open the window. When it is really cold, I go home.”
Zordich said she can help her colleagues. “They can borrow my heater or my extra blanket,” she said last week.
