On Aug. 17, King sent out a letter of resignation, saying, “Due to circumstances beyond my control, I feel that the performance of my duties at a level worthy of this office is now beyond my current abilities.”Robert Cox, manager of student life and the College Center, introduced the possibility of Peterman as King’s vice presidential successor. ASG President Bradley Best agreed with the idea and appointed Peterman to the vacant post.

“As far as I’m concerned, I don’t think there is anyone in the student population that could do this job better than Bethany,” said Best.
Peterman ran for the ASG presidency two years ago and served as ASG senator pro-temp last year.

“He couldn’t have done any better,” King said of Best’s choice of Peterman. “She’s a go-getter.”

“I wanted what was best for the school, not my ego,” said King about his resignation as ASG vice president.

King will serve the ASG as special correspondent to the president, working with the student body, public and other colleges to find out how best to serve the needs of MHCC.

“What’s good for the school has fortunately been good for me,” said King.
