It was about 80 degrees and the Main Mall was filled with new and returning students enjoying the sunshine and music.
The band performed several songs from their recent album, “Summer of Love” and mixed in some songs for the MHCC crowd about the college.
Rootdown’s self-described Pop-Reggae-Hip-Hop sound made the band a success to a diverse cross section of the MHCC population.
The lead singer, Wright, made up the words and raps to the songs on stageand stunned the students with his performing abilities.
The band is made up of two brothers, Paul and Jackson Wright, drummer Craig Paulsen and guitarist Matt Salinas.
Trumpet player and percussionist Tim Hemphill did not join the band during the Welcome Week performance.
Hemphill was present at the performance during the New Student Orientation.
The band was a great finale for Welcome Week.
“I loved it,” said Wright.
