ASG loses four members from executive and council ranks; accepting applications

Four positions have become available within the Associated Student Government this term and applications will be accepted through Tuesday.
Among the open slots are two executive positions and two Student Activity Board spots.

The ASG is looking for applicants for the director for student organizations, the director for state and federal affairs, health and wellness coordinator, and the marketing coordinator.

The spots became open after the previous title-holders decided they wanted to take their academics more seriously or that ASG wasn’t where their interests lay anymore.

“Every year we tend to have some students that go their separate ways,” said Meadow McWhorter, adviser to the Executive Cabinet.

Students who decide to apply for one of these positions may find themselves in various activities both on campus and around the state. For example, the director for state and federal affairs represents MHCC at Oregon Community College Association and helps attract state attention.

Applicants may apply for all of the positions or select one or two specific jobs.
“There are a variety of different opportunities involved with ASG,” McWhorter said. “It gives you a chance to build relationships with other students, it helps with professional development, and it has an impact on both the MHCC campus and community.”

Applications can be picked up at the ASG office in the College Center and are due Tuesday by 5 p.m.

Interviews for the executive positions will be held Thursday and for the council positions on Friday, though the exact times are not yet determined.
For more information about the positions or the application process, students may visit the ASG office or call 503-491-7224.
