MHCCD board elects new leaders
The Advocate
The MHCC District board in July elected Beverly Russell as chairperson and Bob Morris as vice chairperson.
Russell’s service on the board began in 2006 when she was appointed to complete the term of her late husband (Ron Russell) through 2007.
After completing the 2006 term, she was elected by the public to serve a four-year term as a board member in July 2007.
Her election by the Board to the position of chairperson in July was a unanimous decision. Russell earned both bachelors and masters degrees in education from Western Oregon University. In addition to teaching in the Peace Corps in Malaysia she has been a substitute teacher in east Portland as well as a travel agent. Russell replaces Duke Shepard as board chair.
Morris has served on the board since being elected to his first four-year term in 1999. Since then, he has been re-elected to the board for two more four-year terms, in 2003 and 2007.
Before his time on the MHCC District Board Morris served for eight years on the Centennial School District Board of Education.
He holds a bachelors of science in economics from Arizona State University and has done graduate work at Portland State University. Bob Morris replaces Sen. Rod Monroe as vice chair.
