'Dead books' for sale starting monday
Coffin of books returns for second straight year

The MHCC bookstore will sponsor a Dead Books Sale starting Monday through Oct. 30 as they offer textbooks, trade books and a variety of other books that have been taken off the shelves.
The books will be placed in a coffin and sold for a dollar; all proceeds go to the bookstore.
I saw that another school had (a dead book sale) but they had a cardboard coffin. Since we have the (funeral services) program here, she (bookstore employee Loreen Whitman) set it up with them,” said bookstore manager Janet Kehn.
This is the second year the event has been held and last year “it went great,” said Kehn. “Students loved it.”
Although the books are no longer used in courses taught at MHCC, Kehn said they may still be interesting to students who want to learn a little bit more about a certain subject.
“You never know what might appeal to somebody,” she said.
