Honors given to students, employees

Awards for recognition of students, faculty, administrators and other staff were given out at May 9 Associated Spring Dinner Dance sponsored by the Student Activities Board.
Receiving inductions for “Honorary Membership of Student Association,” which is “extended to individuals who continue to make an impact on the students at Mt. Hood Community College” (according to the pamphlet given out at the dinner), were Director of Student Life Robert Cox, former Dean and MHCC Head Basketball Coach Rob Nielson, and former Chief Operating Officer Michael Wolfe. Wolfe and Nielson were not present and neither are still with the college.
Receiving “Unsung Heroes” awards were Bryan Anaclerio, a health and PE instructor, Chartwell’s associate Charles Hadnot, and Staci Huffaker, risk management coordinator.
Also receiving awards were the Student Nurses Association (Sorenson Award,) Queer and Straight Alliance (Most Active Club of the Year), Nick Liezen (Outstanding Student Organization Council Representative), Saints to Soldiers (Activity of the Year), and Elizabeth Perry (Outstanding Adviser of the Year).
Associated Student Government also gave three awards. Winning “Executive Council Member of the Year” was ASG Director of Community Affairs Sayoko Sasao; winning “Student Activities Board Member of the Year” was Director of SAB Heather Nichelle-Peres; and winning “Student Senate Member of the Year” was Senator Pro Tempore Bethany Peterman.
